Using Ubuntu on my laptop

1 minute read

I was always passionate about opensource software. When I was younger, I had a strong desire to get a PC. The main aim after getting PC was to install an Linux operating system like Ubuntu.
But it was only last month i got my hands on my own PC. It was preinstalled with Windows already. But the second day itself, I started installing Linux distros into It. Every distro gave me problems. parrot os hangs on second day, zorin os though it is simple and elegent, for me it felt like kids game and so on.
So I tried installing Ubuntu. My laptop HP 840 G2 had a problem with latest version of ubuntu. Everytime i powered on my computer, It’s orientation was flipped. On times when screen is straight, mouse pointer was working insanely.
A bit of googling lead me to the solution. I just had to run

sudo apt remove iio-sensor-proxy

and providing password.
That package was responsible for the orientation sensor in Linux. And with a reboot, the orientation went fine!
Since then I am using Ubuntu as my primary and only operating system. This article was written and images were added from my Ubuntu system

And I love this So Much

UPDATE: I have moved to Elemantory OS, an OS Built upon Ubuntu, but with a very different design concept.
